Riverside St Paul's Cray (Primary)

Welcome to the Primary Phase at Riverside St Paul’s Cray. Here you will find eleven wonderfully unique classes: Rabbits, Squirrels, Hedgehogs, Foxes, Elephants, Zebras, Tigers, Lions and Koalas.

We pride ourselves in supporting and meeting the needs of all of our diverse children. We provide the support needed to ensure they are all able to flourish through a meaningful and personalised curriculum, centred on their needs, learning preferences and interests. We ensure that the classrooms and wider environments are responsive and provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing space for your child to be at their optimum level for learning.

Each half-term there is a new motivating topic which helps to frame your child’s personalised curriculum. We also create opportunities for primary whole school events, WOW days, integration and learning outside the classroom.

Teachers use creative and innovative ways alongside our Riverside Approaches to plan meaningful cross curricula lessons with your child’s happiness and progress always at the centre of everything they do; using their Personalised Learning Plans, Happiness Passports and information from all multi-agency professionals to create a truly holistic education. This way of planning allows teachers to use the range of facilities on our site at St Paul's Cray to provide opportunities for learning to take place in many different environments. These include: Hydrotherapy Pool, Soft-Play, Sensory Room, Sensory Garden, Nature Trail, Interactive ELIE room, Starlight Room, Dance Studio, Riverside Lounge and Sunken Trampoline and Climbing Room. At St Paul's Cray we have an abundance of primary playgrounds with sensory equipment for all children to experience physical movement and play in a variety of ways including supporting their sensory processing needs.

Our school Nursing Team and Physiotherapists are also based at our St Paul's Cray site ensuring that we are best placed to meet the needs of our pupils with more medically complex needs. You will also find a team of Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, who work in conjunction with our class teams to support the needs of our pupils.

Enabling your child to experience their wider environment also extends beyond the classroom; transferring skills learnt within Riverside such as visiting the Riverside Lounge and extending this to opportunities beyond the school gates.

Family and community engagement is fundamental to the success to our phase. Home school communication is really important, as together we plan the best way to support your child to be all that they can be. We want to make sure that you feel listened and part of our wider school family.

We can’t wait to embark on this journey with you and your child through their Primary years. We look forward to sharing, and celebrating all their achievements with you!
