Family Project 2020

As we are unable to come together in person for our much loved Family Project this year, we would like to share a different, yet equally exciting proposal with you.

We hope you have had the opportunity to see our Staff "It Must be Love" video which was released in April 2020 and viewed over 5,000 times.  Following the success of this project, we are following a similar model for this year's Family Project and would like to invite you to contribute to a video set to the powerful and uplifting song ‘Rise Up’ by Andra Day.

Taking part couldn't be easier, and we would love as many families as possible to take part in this innovative project. So, here's what we'd love you to do…

  1. Watch our Rise Up demonstration video here: and learn as many (or as few) Makaton signs as you would like with your family. Please then film yourselves demonstrating the signs in landscape position (holding your 'phone horizontally rather than vertically).
  2. Please also film and send us any special family moments that you have shared during the past couple of months at home, anything from playing together indoors or outside, walking the dog, cooking, messy play, dancing or any other shared experiences you have had within your family.
  1. In addition to your videos, please also feel free to send us any of your best photos that capture special family time together.
  2. Please send your family videos and photos via Whatsapp to our Riverside number (provided to you by email on 18/06/20) by Monday, 29th June 2020. Please include your child's full name in the accompanying message.

Please note that the resulting Family Project film will be shared on our website and via social media.

We cannot wait to receive your entries and we are sure that they will create a really powerful film to capture the strength and unity within our Riverside School community. Thank you in advance for your participation in what we believe will be an incredibly special project.

We look forward to hearing from you all.

Best wishes,

Chantal Cook
