Music Therapy
A music therapist is employed at Riverside school part time. She provides individual and group assessment and treatment sessions according to the needs of each child. She also works with other professionals such as the Speech and Language therapist, physiotherapists and class teachers.
The music therapist seeks to establish contact with the child through the shared use of sound and any form of communication from the child is responded to and supported with music. By establishing a relationship through music, the child can experience and explore new ways of relating, leading to development and change.
