Pupils working on the Free Readers pathway will complete a fluency check at the beginning of each academic year to ensure that there are no gaps in learning that need to be addressed. They will also follow the Little Wandle fluency programme to ensure that they consolidate their skills in reading accuracy, rate of automaticity, prosody and expression. Alongside this, our aim is to support free readers to apply their secure phonic and writing skills to be successful when out in the community and in life after Riverside.
