This Morning

Dear Families,

Some of you may be aware that, following a fire alarm at 8:50am, we evacuated our school building at SPC this morning just before pupils started to arrive at school.

We called the Fire Brigade and, following a thorough check, it was established that there was no fire and that the site was completely safe to open. One of our light fittings had omitted some smoke which had raised the alarm, however we were assured by the Fire Brigade that the fault was not a fire risk. We are now conducting a full audit of all similar light fittings to ensure there is no re-occurrence.

To ensure maximum safety of pupils, families, staff and other colleagues, transport vehicles were re-directed to Homebase car-park for a short time whilst we confirmed the site was safe and we re-opened school just after 9:20am.

We hope that your child was not adversely affected by this incident (either witnessing the fire engines or the change to their usual routine) but if any issues arise, please feel free to discuss these with your child's class teacher in the first instance.

We would like to thank our pupils, families, staff, SEN Transport colleagues, our neighbours at Homebase and the Fire Brigade for their prompt, calm response and support during this short incident and are happy to report that the rest of the day has run extremely smoothly.
